Essex General Construction has promoted Josh Bernard to Project Superintendent. Bernard joined Essex in 2015 as a carpenter and moved quickly into a foreman position six months later. He always had his eye on being a Superintendent for Essex and has taken every opportunity to assume additional responsibilities. In 2018 he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent. Now it’s official, and Josh Bernard is a Project Superintendent, currently working on one of our multifamily housing projects in Portland.
Essex General Construction is pleased to promote Jon Mattheisen to Field Operations Manager. Mattheisen joined Essex in 2007. Since that time, he has been a Project Manager, Project Superintendent and Concrete Superintendent. He was engaged in many high-profile projects. In addition to continuing his role as Concrete Superintendent, in his new role Mattheisen will now oversee our expeditors and manage our field crews. His responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and promoting our carpenters, finish carpenters and concrete crew members.
Essex General Construction has promoted David Ramirez to General Superintendent. Ramirez joined Essex in 2016 as a Project Superintendent. Now, with 19 years of experience under his belt, Ramirez is responsible for managing our project superintendents and assistant superintendents, as well as overseeing our safety department. He will be actively engaged in quality control for all of our projects by taking an active role in preconstruction logistics and planning, ensuring that our standard operating procedures continue to evolve with best practices, and mentoring, assisting and training our superintendents and assistant superintendents. His goal is to build on the processes and systems developed by the ownership team at Essex.
