Employee Spotlight: Nic Humbert

Our people are our best asset. Nick Humbert is a great example of that. Nick joined us as a Carpenter Journeyman in March of 2021. He always brings a humble and positive attitude. Nick never shies away from any tasks and is always willing to step up. Whatever he takes on, he gives it his all.
According to our General Superintendent, David Ramirez - “Nick has been the rock in our foundation at The Overland.” For those that don’t already know, Nick is a self-described, unapologetic, rock hound. If you ask him what’s in his pocket, more than likely he’ll pull out a rock.
Why did you join Essex?
I was looking for a company where I could stay for the long-term. I heard good things about Essex and thought it could be that place.
Can you share a memory of your time with Essex?
Good memories at Essex happen regularly when people take time out of their busy day to teach me something new. Another memory that stands out is when I surprised my wife with ballet tickets, compliments of Essex. It was great!
What has kept you here?
I’ve learned more at this company than I’ve learned anywhere else. You really feel the friendly family atmosphere at Essex. It’s not just talk. They walk the walk. There is a high level of professionalism and a positive can-do attitude. I like the people I work with. We make light of the darkness. I’m a company man. I want the company to succeed. I respect Essex and the people I work with. I want to continue to work and learn and be skilled at many things – so if there’s a need I’ll be there.
